2nd Annual Sapiens Symposium

Posted by abo46n2 in general

Update: *We’ve decided to push the abstract submission date back to March 7th to give people more time to think about participating. The conference date has also been finalized for March 25th. Look for the schedule - will be posted soon!*

The Sapiens Symposium is an event dedicated to a collaboration of student knowledge concerning issues of human experience and interaction. Through the exchange of wisdom, the Sapiens Symposium serves as a platform for like-minded individuals to present and discuss topics that each find important to their respective field of study. It is in the hopes of its organizers that the Sapiens Symposium will cultivate an increased awareness of and tolerance for the many facets of the human condition in a global village.

* The Sapiens Symposium is a great opportunity to gain experience presenting your own research to your peers and distinguished professionals.

* Also a great opportunity to put the final touches on your research for those considering presenting at the Central States Anthropological Society conference in March 2008 in Indianapolis, Indiana, or submitting their paper for the Anthropology department’s Ibn Battuta award.

* You will have a unique chance for your peers and faculty to comment on your research in an open atmosphere of constructive criticism, offering suggestions for improvement and comments on excellence.

Open to ALL Anthropology, American Ethnic Studies, International Studies, Cultural Studies, and Women’s Studies Majors.

WHEN: March 25, 2008 (it is possible that this date might change… check back often)
WHERE: Waters 137
WHO: Sponsored by the KSU Anthropology Club. FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT Adam Bohannon (abo46n2@gmail.com or 913-708-2078)

*Abstract/proposal submissions due by March 7th, 2008*

There are no stipulations on content, as long as it is relevant to any area of the human condition. Also, ALTERNATIVE MEDIA PRESENTATIONS ARE WELCOME. THE CONFERENCE IS NOT SOLELY LIMITED TO RESEARCH PAPER PRESENTATIONS. (e.g., video documentaries & digital ethnographies, website presentations, etc. Be creative!)

This is the second year the Anthropology Club has put this on.  Last year we had a fantastic turn out and are hoping this year will be even better.  If anyone belongs to the American Ethnic Studies, International Studies, Cultural Studies, and/or Women’s Studies listservs or departments, please feel free to forward this message onward. We look forward to hearing from a diverse group of students here at K-State and we hope you all will take the opportunity to share your interests with your fellow students.

On behalf of the KSU Anthropology Club, thank you for your time and we hope to hear from you soon!
