Skeleton sheds light on ape-man species

Posted by Webmaster in anthro news

There’s a very interested article posted today on CNN.com! It looks like scientists have discovered a nearly complete skeleton of Australopithecus afarensis (Lucy belongs to this species). It was actually discovered in 2000 but scientists have spent the past 6 years trying to remove the skeleton from sandstone. Very cool article!

Update on Annual Club BBQ

Posted by Webmaster in general

We are still on for this Friday’s BBQ. Starting at 5pm at River Pond out at Tuttle Lake. (Driving directions are listed below.) Please remember to bring a dish, beverage, or 3$ donation. Also remember to wear appropriate clothing as there will undoubtedly be volleyball, ultimate Frisbee and other such physical events.

There is regrettably, one minor change to the original plan. Due to unforeseen forces of nature (and some other non-nature induced reasons), there will be no cabin available afterwards. (more…)

We’ve obtained a rental cabin out at TUTTLE LAKE! and will be holding the BBQ and events there. (more…)

‘Survivor’ Splits Contestants Into Races

Posted by Webmaster in anthro news

This subject was actually brought up at the last meeting (I hear) and then was mentioned again on the club listserv. Hopefully people can read up on this and form their own opinions and we can discuss this topic at the next club meeting!

Here is a link to a news article about it:

Here is also an interesting blog about the issue:
